What makes Inika makeup so special?
Inika is a glamorous, 100 per cent natural Australian cosmetics brand.
Created in 2006 by Miranda Bond and Jenni Williams, the power duo behind the highly successful Thriving Healthy Women Network, Inika has revolutionised natural makeup as we know it.
Driven by their individual journeys towards toxic-free living, Miranda and Jenni believed that women wanting to use natural cosmetics should not have to compromise on quality, colour or performance. But after failing to find any products on the Australian market that met their strict ingredients criteria and performance expectations, the two friends created Inika – a stylish, and exclusively natural range of makeup products that offered unsurpassed performance.
As consumers move toward a greener lifestyle, natural and mineral makeup is enjoying a worldwide boom, with Inika drawing a celebrity fan base including Stella McCartney, Australian Olympian Giaan Rooney, “Bones” actress Emily Deschanel, and Australian personalities including Kate Richie, Pippa Black and Deni Hines.
“Women everywhere are recognising that they no longer have to choose between using makeup that works and makeup that is free from harmful ingredients that can affect both their health and the environment,” says Miranda Bond, CEO and co-founder of Inika. “This has created a real industry shift in the global cosmetics market and we are proud to have been at the forefront of this. Inika is all about creating glamour that’s good for you!” she says.
However, in an industry that is still largely unregulated and rife with green washing, Bond believes it can be difficult for consumers to make informed choices about what to use on their skin.
Unlike some “natural” brands, Inika products are guaranteed to be completely free from harsh petrochemicals, fillers, talc, bismuth oxychloride, GM ingredients, parabens, preservatives, mineral oils, phthalates and fragrances. All products are also non-comedogenic, which means they won’t clog the pores, and are so gentle that women who have suffered allergies and sensitivities to cosmetics for years have been able to wear Inika without any reaction.
Available in a range of colours not seen before in natural makeup, Inika cosmetics are routinely recommended by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons for use following procedures like laser resurfacing, chemical peels and micro-dermabrasion.
One of the only makeup brands to have all products certified vegan or certified organic or both, Inika, which means “small earth” in Hindi, is also 100 per cent Halal and cruelty free and the brand is committed to environmental awareness.
Inika strongly believes that women have the right to choose what they put on their skin and so maintains a transparency policy, readily displaying product ingredients on any packaging and the Inika website.
The Inika range currently includes 79 permanent products as well as limited edition seasonal products and colour collections released quarterly.
